Boxin' the Coast - What's not to love?

Another term is behind me, and in front of me is the first of two capstone seminars. I get a week off in-between 10-week terms, and boy do I love to get away! And, there is nothing better than getting away to the Oregon Coast. After traveling extensively through the US, and even abroad, there is no place that  speaks to my soul more intimately than this stretch of rocky and sweet-sandy coast of the Pacific Coast.

Amazingly, the weather was fantastic, most of the restaurants were open and careful to require masks and distancing, and we happily roamed up and down the glorious coast looking for letterbox gems. Here are some of my favorite pics from our week:

A little older and a bit more creaky,
but I still can find a well-hidden letterbox! haha!

Obimaster leading the way - actually, he is just making
sure I don't step in any mud puddles. He's sweet like that :)

Here we are posing like tourists as a cover.
Oh yeah, we got the box ...
and thankfully, we didn't need to go to the urgent care.
Don't ask.

Good advice while on the Oregon Coast!

Awe-inspiring coastal forest.

Yep, it was that gorgeous.

Inky fingers!

I know everyone says this, but I would really love to, somehow, figure out a way to move to the Oregon Coast. I absolutely love Newport, although I wouldn't mind living in Astoria, either. Unfortunately, just at the point in time that I really started looking at possibilities, the prices jumped hundreds of thousands of dollars ... and with that, my dream slipped out of my grasp. But, you never know what the future holds, so I am hopeful that someday the perfect situation will present itself. So, for now, I leave a bit of my heart there each time we have head back north.

Highlights of the trip:

Spending a wonderful night in Seaside

Finding a Don & Gwen box

Eating at Nana's Irish Pub @ Nye Beach

Stopping for root beer ice cream at A&W in Florence

Checking out the Dune Overlook, again in Florence

Finding the most awesome little shop called the Crystal Wizard in Gleneden

Daydreaming about buying a beach cottage in Neskowin or Rockaway Beach

Picking out my own float to take home from Lincoln City

A leisurely walk from the Embarcadero to historic Newport

Stopping in to say 'hi' at Mossy Creek Pottery - yeah, we bought something, of course!

And so many more! So, a tradition of mine is to book the next trip immediately after returning home. I think it makes the re-entry easier. Our next trip will be another Moms on the Loose, mid-November. Get that rain jacket handy - it's gonna be a wet one!
