Well, Samsonite and I are at it again - Moms on the Loose!
Don't quote me, but I think our last MOTL adventure must have been 2009-10-ish. For those trips we headed south, but this time we were determined to outrun a rainstorm. I am just not ready for summer to be over!
We headed over the Cascades toward Wenatchee. And, it did not disappoint! We managed to snag 2 boxes out of 4 searched - not bad. One box had some altered messaging - yet another great reason to maintain your boxes!
I am positive they did not intend to call their letterbox out as 'trash'! This box was fun to find - I had to literally hug a large tree in order to cross a creek and find this gem. Totally worth it!
We found the other box at a beautiful Catholic church. It was perfect - a secluded back lot with lots of privacy. However, when we drove in, there was an forlorn vehicle right where we needed to be! After observing for life forms (seemingly nonexistent), we decided to go ahead and grab the well-placed box. I hope there was no one in that vehicle, partly because I didn't want them to see what we were up to, but also because the front windshield looked like it had been impacted by a branch, large rock, or ?? and it was so damaged no one could possibly drive looking through it. We were glad we stopped for this one - the stamp was beautifully carved (as usual for this planter), and we had fun driving through East Wenatchee.
We really packed a lot into this little weekend getaway - we visited Leavenworth for some artisan chocolate, had breakfast at the Renaissance Cafe, walked for what seemed like miles in Apple Annie's Antiques, enjoyed the fantastic Garlini's Italian restaurant, checked out Cashmere (the home of Aplets & Cotlets), stopped in Roslyn (remember Northern Exposure?) and did some serious shopping, explored Pybus Public Market, drove through the historic Liberty Townsite, and noshed on great Mexican food at El Agave. Truly, if you have not visited this part of the world, you are missing out.

A highlight of this trip was discovering the Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee.
Herman and his new bride, Ruth, loved to stand on that bluff and dream of flourishing alpine meadows, shimmering pools and shady evergreen pathways where the hot, relentless summer sun allowed only sage and scrub desert growth. They set their minds on achieving that dream. (from the website)
It is a wonderful garden filled with trees and hidden pools, waterfalls, stone benches, fairies and gnomes. It was truly magical - here are some pics I snapped:

No letterboxes there, but oh gosh, I definitely want to take Obimaster there in the future.
So, I only have one regret of the weekend - we didn't take a selfie of Samsonite and myself. What a shame. But we had a lot of laughs and have wonderful memories! And we definitely need to plan another MOTL trip soon!
