We were out on another boxing adventure - this time in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. On the Washington State peninsula is sparkling Lake Quinault and its historic Lake Quinault Lodge. If you haven't had the opportunity to visit this piece of paradise, you need to put it on your bucket list. The Lodge is everything you would expect from a Roosevelt-style lodge with the oversized furniture, ginormous fireplace, tempting restaurant, and nice rooms. The back lawn stretches out to the lake and you can rent canoes or kayaks. Or you could take a 2-hour boat cruise around the lake. Fabulous!
But we came for the trails, and they are to die for. Winding through old-growth forest, these trails are really something to experience. Some long, some not so much, all worth exploring. And there are letterboxes!
We hit the trails and had a great time. For a break, we grabbed sandwiches and drinks from the Mercantile, and had an impromptu picnic in the shade. Then we checked out the World's Largest Sitka Spruce (fun fact: there are six other champion trees in the Olympic National Forest/Park, as well!). To make it a truly perfect letterboxing outing, we planted some of our own creations in hopes other letterboxers will make their way out here.
Here are a few fun snaps from our day. I love, love, love summer!

We spent one night at the lodge and hiked that very same area last year! We absolutely loved it. Such beautiful trails. Did you find the "Evening Cruise" letterbox right across the trail from the lodge?
Indeed we did! Can't wait to make it out there again :)
