Masada Mosaic

I regularly take inspiration for my carving from my own photographs, and often take pics specifically for the purpose of carving them. (My current oval sig-stamp is a good example of this.) Below is a photo of a mosaic that Herod commissioned so many hundreds of years ago; you can see it for yourself if you visit Masada, near the Dead Sea, Israel.


Here's my interpretation of the beautiful tile work.

This is one of my absolute favorites partly because it's awesome but also because of you sharing your memories of that place as well as your whole experience there. One day, we'll stand there together, my friend! :o)
