Something to say, do you?

(actual size 2-3/4" x 1")

Carving lettering can be challenging, to be sure. From the very start, lettering was on my to-carve list. As a rubber stamp collector, the majority of the stamps I purchased were text, that is, if I could find what I was looking for.

I enjoy carving text, and in all font styles. The easiest, by far, is script. With it's curvy lines, it's much more forgiving then, say, a courier or block font, which demands precision.

So often I will hear a quote or gem of wisdom and be driven to carve it. This next stamp is a good example...

This next carve is a really cool font I found and used for the 'Hail Caesar' swap. It just seemed to fit this most excellent of quotes from Clone Wars. When prepping text for carving, I tweak it in my PrintShop software (I'm too poor for a PhotoShop splurge!). I pushed the lines of text as close together as possible to give myself a little more challenge.

And one more, with script...definitely a favorite of mine.

The variety of font styles is so impressive. I really want to watch you again; I can't get a mental picture of a gouge doing this. You are amazing!

Any more of these on the horizon?
