Light and Dark

These two portraits were carved for a really fun, but challenging project near the beginning of the LTC wave. It was a swap hosted by my friend Mrs. Doglvrs called Black & White. The simple rules were to use only black on one card and only white on the other...no other colors.

I chose these images first because I love Star Wars (shocking, I know), and the other because they embody the light and dark so well. I stamped Anakin in all his darkness in black ink on black cardstock. It was difficult to find the right combo of ink and paper to actually have the black show up. I must have purchased 5 different 'black' papers! Thankfully, I think I already owned every type of black ink ever made due to my never-ending quest to find the best one.

Knight Fall

Padme, featured here as the rather innocent and definitely light Queen Amidala, I stamped on white-ish vellum with white ink. It, too, presented challenges. I tried a several different white inks before coming up with the one that would not only show up and stamp the details correctly, but would dry and not smear.

A Young Queen

Both these stamps are LTC size, just under 2.5" x 3.5". Interestingly, I didn't keep a sample of these cards for myself in the original swap form, only in the second rendition of the cards in different colors.
