It's a calendar issue.

January '09 LTC

Last year, for an LTC calendar project, I chose my birthday month, January. Those little black dots are crystals that give the card a cool, wintery feel. The calendar grid was printed on vellum to let the snowflakes peek through.

But for the 2010 redux, I wanted to do something different - this time I chose July. I decided to take inspiration from some famous letterboxers, the Spiral Seekers. Last year they ambitiously carved the calendar grid...hey, I wanna do that, too! So, here's the results - I'm really excited at how it turned out. That grid is harder than it looks, let me tell you! I had fun practicing more with the needle getting those little corners. To be honest, the grid was more challenging (and tedious) than the eagle!

July '10 LTC

I used orange grade B for this stamp in an effort to conserve my white grade A. I had forgotten how much I enjoy carving with the orange. I had to sand this particular piece of PZ because it was pretty rough when I got it. No problem, it's easy and fast: first sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper over the whole surface, followed by 320, then ending with 600 until it's smooth and creamy to the touch.

I think after I'm done stamping for this project, I am going to cut it apart and use the calendar grid for other projects. I'm sure I can find a fun place to hide Mr. Eagle...any suggestions?

Straight lines are hard enough, but a grid is even more so. You did a great job!
I have an eagle tattoo image that I've wanted to carve since last July. Maybe next year...
Do you have any parks known as an Eagle "hangout" where you could plant him?

We were just at a park yesterday famous for eagles, but it's 3 hours away :-/

No, we didn't see any eagles, but we did get the box :-)

Plant it in Sequim . . . and smell a little lavender for me while you're there!;-)
(just a little suggestion)

Kudos for that stamp, my friend. Great job!
