Sad News

Sunset on Lake Topaz
This is the second morning since I got the news of my beloved Mother.  She was on vacation in Nevada with my Dad and their dear friend Connie.  They had rented a minivan and drove down to visit some of their favorite places down in the sunny state.  Unknown to us all, my beautiful Mother would not return.

She suffered a massive heart attack in a Lake Topaz hotel room.  She had been complaining of not feeling well, but she had just attributed it to the excessive heat they had been experiencing there.  At 66 years old, she had a history of heart problems, but they were managed with medication, of course.  Receiving the phone call from my Dad was devastating and so unexpected for me.

She passed away on the seventh day of Succot, the day of completion.

I loved my Mother so much and will miss her terribly the rest of my life.  She was a huge part of who I am, who I was and who I will be in the future.  She was a believer, so I look forward to the day that I will be able to tell her face-to-face, once again, that I love her more than my own life.

I want to thank everyone who has sent condolences, via Facebook, to me.  Your thoughts, good wishes, sympathy and loving prayers are appreciated more than anyone could possibly know.  You, my letterboxing family, have more than proven how much you care.  I THANK YOU!  and appreciate you so, so much.

As an aside, my dear Mother had gone letterboxing with us a couple of times...she was the 'navigator', as she would sit in the passenger seat of the vehicle and read and ponder the clue, telling me where to drive and how to snag the box.  She was so smart that she would figure it out before anyone else, then my Dad and I would race for the 'box.  She especially enjoyed looking at the hand-carved stamped images I would share with her in my logbook.

Oh G-d, how I'm gonna miss her.

I am so sorry for your loss. My stepfather passed away from a massive heart attack 8 years ago. He was such a great Dad to me and I miss him terribly. But I remember all of the good times we had and memories instead of just the fact he's gone. Stay strong :)

What a beautiful tribute to your mother! Your photo here is exquisite showing so much more than just the physical beauty that you observed & captured in your lens but it also in such a vivid way conveyts the 'rest of the story' as Paul Harvey would describe it considering what you're enduring right now. I was reminded this very week in our study of Revelation that seven is so significant throughout the book that it means completion and perfection! Perhaps perfection means your mother's work here on Earth is finished and she's been been greeted with outstretched arms and the wonderful words, "good and faithful servant" by Him who strengthens us. Many hugs to you & your family!!!
